Below the Knees (and my apologies)

I said when I started this challenge that I wouldn’t slack off and would never miss a week… and here I am, now two photos down.

*sigh*

I’ll catch back up — I have my optimist pants on today. But, here’s my first contribution to the challenge, which satisfies the Below the Knees theme.

I took this photo last week at a beach off of White Avenue on Anna Maria Island. I grew up on “the Island,” but hadn’t spent much time at this particular beach. The name of its adjoining road is fitting, though, with sand as soft and white as powder.

The feet are attached to two of my friends, Melissa and Randy, who became engaged a few months ago. This was a shot I took of them during an amateur photo shoot for their Save-the-Dates they’re hoping to mail out by the spring. (I got the idea from Pinterest, so don’t be too impressed).

Doing this shoot really had me thinking I’d like to take additional photography classes and maybe (like so many photographers say) start my own gig in the future. We’ll see.Enjoy my friends’ wrinkly, not-so-stinky feet

New challenge

Although I have yet to acquire any followers and this is purely for my own entertainment, hello virtual world!

Today marks the beginning of an event I’ve only known about for about a week, but that I can’t wait to dive into full force — the 52-Week Photo Challenge.

(If you’re interested in reading more about the challenge, check out my article in the East County Observer: http://www.yourobserver.com/news/east-county/Front-Page/0730201435385/Photography-challenge-creates-friendships)

The task — take one photo a week for a year that matches one of the challenge’s themes.

Up to it? Uh, yeah!

Planning to hunt down my first photo theme this weekend — hopefully something I can shoot from the beach with a cold drink and Kyle (my love) next to me.

Cheers to a challenge!
